A gorgeous, polished specimen of genuine malachite from the Congo. It has intricate ring patterns & is quite heavy due to iron content. It looks a bit like a cute frog w/ eyes.
The dealer I purchased it from said that malachite is getting very scarce as African mines are being bought up by Chinese companies, making it hard for others to procure it. There's also lots of manmade imitation malachite out there.
