Ramon Santiago
(1943-2001)
Artist Ramon Santiago was honorably discharged from the Marines in 1968, after which he began his career in mixed media portraiture. Prior to joining the service, he had attended the Rochester Institute of Technology in New York to study art. Ramon Santiago's paintings varied in subject matter and his imaginative use of color and form accentuated the sexuality of his female portraits. Aside from female subjects, he painted fantasy images and clowns. His works were popular amongst celebrities wanting to make a statement.
